Certain countries and territories' passport holders are exempt from visa applications for traveling to New Zealand but are required to obtain an NZeTA.

You hold a passport from a country listed under visa waiver countries and territories, and
Your visit is up to 3 months long, or up to 6 months if you are a British citizen.
