Traveling through New Zealand

When you transit through New Zealand on your journey to another country without intending to stay, you are classified as a transit passenger.

As a transit passenger, you are restricted to traveling through Auckland International Airport, where you are required to remain within the airport's transit area or on your aircraft. Typically, your transit period in New Zealand should be less than 24 hours.

Travel to other Countries

In order to transit through New Zealand, you need to fall into one of the specified categories or exceptions that exempt you from requiring an NZeTA or transit visa. Alternatively, if you are permitted to transit with an NZeTA, you must have one. If a transit visa is mandated, you must possess a valid transit visa.

Transit Area

During your time in New Zealand, you are required to remain within the transit area of Auckland International Airport and must not exceed a stay of 24 hours.

You can’t apply for entry permission or any kind of visa while in transit.
